On Which Social Network Should You Share Content Most Frequently?

So, now you’re sold on the power of digital marketing and are wondering which social network you should share content on most frequently. The short answer? It’s Twitter.

Now, if that’s all you needed, you can go ahead and click away. But, if you’re curious (and I hope you are), that should open another can of worms.

Why Twitter? Why not other social networks like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, or TikTok? And, if it’s really Twitter, what’s the best way to leverage it? I’m answering all these today. So get comfortable, put on your reading glasses, and let’s get to it!

Here’s why Twitter is the best social network for frequent posting:

Twitter’s population of active users is insanely huge

To this day, Twitter is still one of the most populated social networks around the globe. Statistics vary but, as of 2022, it currently has 400-450 million users.

The sheer number of people on Twitter alone should be enough incentive for you to build your brand’s presence here because it gives you a wider range than most other social networks.

People use Twitter to consume news and updates

People also use Twitter for news and updates – and that’s precisely what the platform prioritizes. Hence, why it’s easier for new content to go “viral” if it’s posted on Twitter.

Some examples of these are Kanye and former President Donald Trump’s controversial Tweets that have broken the internet. Athletes also pay attention to their Twitter feed for news on what’s happening around the sports world.

In your case, you can post about your own brand or retweet relevant news from your industry.

For example, let’s say you run a small business in Upstate New York that sells smartphones. You can tweet updates about your business, like your new stocks and prices for example. Or, you can retweet news from Apple, Samsung, or any other company.

Twitter values community

Of the many social networks available, none of them is as interactive as Twitter.

If your post catches the attention of your audience, it’s going to get them talking and retweeting. This leads to more people seeing your tweet, thus increasing your reach.

Twitter’s character limit is actually a godsend

Unlike Facebook’s limitless characters, LinkedIn’s 3000, or Instagram’s 2000, Twitter only gives you 280 characters per post.

It can be annoying sometimes, sure, but brevity is your friend when you want to post frequently. Like we say here at Ad Doctors Digital, size doesn’t matter *wink*.

The character limit also makes it easy to share links to your main content as well as quick updates.

So, if you have a new video on Youtube, a new blog on your website, or a new product available on your shop, share that link on Twitter and watch your traffic grow.

It’s easy to repurpose old content here

Can you imagine how hard it would be to come up with fresh ideas every single day? Well, with Twitter, you don’t have to. Its versatility makes it possible to repurpose old content into other types.

For example, let’s say you made a blog about your trip to Spain a few months ago. You can simply share a photo from that trip, a quote from your blog, a meme, an infographic, or other types of content related to it.

It’s FREE!

Truth be told, other social networks are free, too.

That doesn’t make this reason any less relevant, though. Especially since you don’t have to pay a dime to enjoy many of Twitter’s benefits.

However, there are also benefits to handing Twitter some of your hard-earned money. For one, you can “promote” your Tweet to a larger audience. Their ads don’t have a minimum fee either, so you have the choice to spend as little or as much as you want.

Also, they’re now allowing people to gain their blue checkmarks (verified symbol) for an affordable monthly fee.

6 Easy tips to best leverage Twitter

1. Keep your message simple

The character limit is already short but you still don’t have to use them all.

Keep your message short so it’s easily digestible while also being alluring.

2. Add a call to action (CTA) wherever it’s appropriate

If you don’t know what a call to action is, it’s just you telling your audience to do something.

For example, let’s say you posted a short clip from your latest vlog. In that post, you can add “watch the full video here” with a link to the full video.

This helps redirect your audience’s attention to your money-making content rather than just entertaining them on social media.

3. Stay true to your brand’s personality

Brands are like real people who have their own personalities.

For example, Nike has the personality of someone who lives an active lifestyle. Tesla gives off the same vibes as someone innovative. Timberland and Jeep are outdoorsy dudes if they were real people.

Your brand should have its own personality, too. And if you’ve already decided what that is, Twitter is the perfect place to let it shine.

4. Add media to your Tweets

Wherever applicable, adding some sort of media to your Tweets can take them from boring to engaging. These media can be anything from a photo of your latest product, a GIF, a blooper reel, an infographic, and everything in between.

5. Quickly respond to your audience

More than any other social network, Twitter users are highly engaging. Hence, why it’s so good at forming a community.

So be sure to respond to their concerns as quickly as you can and do your best to spark a conversation.

Also, if their concern only requires a short reply, do it on Twitter so other people can see the conversation. If it’s a little more complex, you can send them a direct message.

6. Be consistent

Like many things, consistency is key when it comes to finding success in social media marketing – and that’s heavily highlighted on Twitter.

Plan how many tweets you want to post per week, when you should post them, and what those tweets will be about.

Other popular social networks you should also consider

Facebook

Facebook edges Twitter when it comes to users. As of 2022, this platform has nearly 3 billion users (according to Statista).

If your audience frequents Facebook more than Twitter, consider focusing more of your attention here.

However, people don’t generally use Facebook for news and updates. So, posting more here might annoy your audience.

Instagram

There are a lot of question marks surrounding IG’s algorithm nowadays. This makes it hard to predict how to get them to show your content to your target audience.

2 things are obvious, though. One, they value popularity. The more “likes” your post gets, the more they’re going to promote it. Second, they seem to value reels over images.

Because of those 2 things, marketing on Instagram can be very time-consuming. So, posting frequently here can be very impractical.

Still, Instagram is a great place to reach your audience as they allow multiple entertaining forms of media. This, of course, includes images and reels but stories and IG live are in the mix, too.

TikTok

One reason we think Instagram’s algorithm has become confusing is that it’s trying to be more like TikTok. The latter’s rise to fame is simply phenomenal.

TikTok is great at compiling user-generated content because it’s also great at sparking trends. It’s because of these reasons that we recommend small businesses engage in TikTok.

However, it also has a heavy focus on short videos, so it’s not ideal for frequent posting.

Youtube

While TikTok focuses on short-form videos, Youtube videos are many times longer. This makes posting frequently on Youtube significantly harder than most, if not any other social network.

Although, small businesses can still use Youtube to complement their main website.

Conclusion

There is no other social network that prioritizes news and updates more than Twitter. Its massive population of active users is also more engaging than many, if not all other networks so it’s far easier to engage your target audience.

Many other benefits come with using Twitter for your social media efforts. But the bottom line is that the way it’s set up makes it the best place to post frequently.
